The transport secretary had to have an operation on his lip after falling off his bike at the weekend.
Grant Shapps revealed the news on Twitter and thanked “brilliant” NHS staff “who patched me up”.
“In and out of hospital after coming off my bike while out this weekend,” he tweeted.

Labour’s shadow transport team were among those wishing Mr Shapps well, tweeting: “Hope you’re OK @grantshapps. Wishing you a speedy recovery.”
Labour MP Karl Turner responded: “Hope you recover speedily.”
Mr Shapps had been due to speak to the media at Heathrow Airport on Monday morning to mark the US reopening its borders to UK travellers, but missed the event due to his injuries.
