Houses in Hartlepool were evacuated overnight after a number of cars were set on fire.
Police and firefighters were called to multiple vehicle fires at about 2.20am on Friday in six different roads across the seaside town.
Officers are investigating the causes of the fires and had urged people to avoid the areas.
The streets affected included Caledonian Road, Baden Street, Shrewsbury Street, Lansdowne Road, Osborne Road, and Brinkburn Road.
Police confirmed a small number of residents were evacuated while firefighters dealt with the blazes.
