An Olympic sailor has died at the age of 17 following a training accident.
Eya Guezguez, who represented Tunisia in the 2020 Tokyo Games, was sailing with her twin sister Sarra when their boat capsized.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) said Eya died in the accident while her sibling survived.
IOC president Thomas Bach said he was “shocked by the news”.
He added Eya was “an inspiring talent and role model for her athletes’ generation”.
Her participation at Tokyo 2020 alongside Sarra will “continue to motivate girls everywhere”, according to Mr Bach.
“Our thoughts are with her family, friends and the Olympic community in Tunisia.”
The pair finished 21st in the 49er FX event as they competed together last summer in Japan.
