Two women were turned away from a vaccine centre in Orlando, Florida, after attempting to pass themselves off as older women to try to get coronavirus jabs.

Florida state officials say the pair, aged 34 and 44, dressed up in bonnets, gloves and fake glasses in an attempt to dupe medics into getting a second dose of the vaccine.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said the women altered their birth years on their COVID-19 vaccine registrations in a bit to bypass the state’s system which prioritises the over-65s.

However, both women had reportedly already had their first dose, but it is unclear where.

They were rumbled when it was discovered that even though their names matched their registration, their ages did not.

Local police deputies were asked to issue trespass warnings to the women, that meant they could be prosecuted if they returned to the Orange County Convention Centre in Orlando – even for non-coronavirus reasons.

In a video, a deputy is heard telling the pair: “You’ve stolen a vaccine from somebody that needs it more than you.

“You’re not going to get a vaccine. You have to wait your turn.”

The women seemingly show their appreciation for not being arrested, and tell the deputy they have no intentions of returning to the venue.

The local health department has been tasked with trying to discover where and how the women got their first dose, given the state’s prioritisation for the elderly.

A local official said the department will look to see “if there are any holes, any loopholes, in the process that are allowing people to do that”.
