Bindi Irwin, daughter of the late Australian wildlife presenter Steve Irwin, has announced the birth of her first child and has paid tribute to her father with the name.
The 22-year-old was only eight when her father died in 2006.
Steve Irwin, affectionately known as The Crocodile Hunter, died when he was 44, after his chest was pierced by a stingray barb on Australia’s Great Barrier Reef.

Irwin revealed the name of her new daughter on Friday, which was also her wedding anniversary with husband Chandler Powell, calling her Grace Warrior Irwin Powell.
Sharing a photo on social media, Irwin wrote: “March 25, 2021. Celebrating the two loves of my life. Happy first wedding anniversary to my sweetheart husband and day of birth to our beautiful daughter.
“Grace Warrior Irwin Powell. Our graceful warrior is the most beautiful light.
“Grace is named after my great-grandmother, and relatives in Chandler’s family dating back to the 1700s.
“Her middle names, Warrior Irwin, are a tribute to my dad and his legacy as the most incredible Wildlife Warrior.
“Her last name is Powell and she already has such a kind soul just like her dad.
“There are no words to describe the infinite amount of love in our hearts for our sweet baby girl. She chose the perfect day to be born and we feel tremendously blessed.”

Irwin married Powell, a former professional wakeboarder, at her family’s world famous Australia Zoo in Queensland on 25 March last year – hours before big wedding ceremonies were banned under lockdown restrictions.
The congregation lit a candle in memory of Steve Irwin during the ceremony.
