A rare white peacock was left fighting for its life after being hit by a car in what is believed to be a deliberate act.
Snowy is a favourite sight at Normanby Hall Country Park in Lincolnshire.
But on Thursday, roofers working on a cottage near the park said they saw a car swerve to hit him.
The cottage residents brought Snowy to the park, which a North Lincolnshire Council spokesperson said they were “really grateful for”.
“We took him to the vets who said he had hurt his leg and neck, we thought it was touch and go but they did a great job,” they said.
“He is feeling a bit sore and tender, so we won’t be letting him out for a week or so, he has had something to eat and drink so he’s feeling a bit better.”
The spokesperson said Snowy was “well-loved” locally and staff and visitors had been left “absolutely devastated” by the incident.
