Princess Anne has arrived in Papua New Guinea as her southern hemisphere tour to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee continues.
The Princess Royal and her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, landed to a warm reception in the capital, Port Moresby.
Prime Minister James Marape greeted the pair at Jacksons International Airport and Anne was presented with a garland of flowers before she inspected a guard of honour.
The couple arrived after a weekend of engagements in Australia – including opening the 200th Sydney Royal Easter Show on Saturday, which she first opened with her mother, father and brother in 1970.
On Monday and Tuesday the princess and her husband are scheduled to tour Papua New Guinea with visits to schools, cemeteries, museums and galleries.
The reception of her tour marks a contrast to the recent tour by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge of the Caribbean, where they faced backlash on their seven-day trip.
The couple were met with protests in Belize from locals which saw their planned visit to a cacao farm being cancelled.

Demonstrators also demanded reparations and apologies for the slave trade, amid growing scrutiny over the British Empire’s colonial ties.
In the Bahamas, Prime Minister Philip Davis told the pair the world will likely never again see a reign as long as the Queen’s 70 years.
Princess Anne will conclude the two-day tour of Papua New Guinea with a dinner with Mr Marape and representatives from the charity sector and business groups.
It comes after the Queen and the Royal Family on Saturday marked the first anniversary of the Duke of Edinburgh’s death.
Princess Anne’s tour is one of multiple trips by members of the Royal Family in honour of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years as the nation’s monarch.
