The UK has reported another 5,683 coronavirus cases and one additional death within 28 days of a positive test.
Yesterday, official figures showed there were 5,431 new cases of COVID-19 and four deaths.
The number of cases recorded has risen by 2,300 in comparison to the same time last week, which saw 3,383 coronavirus cases reported along with one death.
A further 127,345 first COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the latest 24 hour period, taking the total to 40,460,576, and another 259,941 second jabs have been given, taking that total to 27,921,294.
Meanwhile, Health Secretary Matt Hancock has announced people aged 25 to 29 in England will be able to book their vaccination from tomorrow morning.
He told MPs in the House of Commons it was “still too early” to say whether the easing of the country’s lockdown restrictions will be able to go ahead as planned on 21 June.
