A murder investigation has been launched after a woman was found dead in undergrowth near a main road in Surrey.
Two men have been arrested in connection with the death.
Police were first called to the slip road of the A3 in Guildford on Monday afternoon at around 3pm, after a member of the public found a body in the undergrowth.
A cordon was set up to allow forensic experts to investigate and a murder investigation was started.
The road remains closed, with Surrey Police saying they expect this to remain the case for “at least another day”.
Officers are working to identify who the woman was, but believe she was aged in her 40s.
The police say they do not yet know how long the body had been in the brush.
Detective chief inspector Emma Vickers said: “We are investigating this as a murder which we believe has been committed elsewhere with the victim’s body left in this location.
“We are still trying to determine how long the body had been there for and we are working with forensic experts as part of our enquiries. We will issue further updates as soon as we are in a position to do so.”
DCI Vickers added: “While our investigation is in the early stages, we would like to reassure local residents that there is a dedicated team of officers working round the clock to establish exactly what has happened and we will provide more information as and when we are able to.”
