An 11-year-old Irish girl has died after falling from a hotel balcony in Majorca.
The girl has been named locally as Clodagh Phelan from Co Wicklow.
A spokesperson for the Civil Guard on the Spanish island said it received reports of a girl falling from a hotel balcony when her parents were asleep on Sunday night.
It said a person at the hotel reported the emergency the morning after when he found the body.
The Department of Foreign Affairs said it is aware of the case and is providing consular assistance, while Spanish police said they are investigating the death.
Taoiseach Simon Harris posted on X to say his thoughts were with the family.
He said: “So sad to hear of the tragic loss of Clodagh Phelan.
“So much promise and personality snatched away in a terrible accident.
