A cat has been rescued by the RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution) after getting into a spot of bother on a river wall.
The moggy, who has been identified as ‘Icicle’, was found stuck on a ledge near the White Swan Pub in Great Yarmouth.
Volunteers from the RNLI for Great Yarmouth and Gorleston were tasked with helping the coastguard rescue the stranded cat and bringing him back to shore.
Prior to the lifeboat’s arrival, the unfortunate feline fell into the River Bure but was luckily spotted by members on board.
“The crew made haste to the struggling cat and gently pulled him out of the water and onto the ILB John Rowntree,” the charity said.
“The crew checked the cat and he was alert but very cold.
“One member of the crew kept it cuddled up in the blanket as the Iifeboat then made its way to the Great Yarmouth Yacht Station where the crew met Gorleston Coastguard.”

They made their way up the River Bure to a nearby RSPCA shelter, where a cat basket had been donated for him and he was taken to be checked over.
Keep calm and have some salmon
RNLI Helmsman Dave Kilpatrick said: “Once in the lifeboat the cat was wrapped in a blanket and kept calm.
“He seemed pleased to see us. Once on dry land, he was given some salmon from the fish shop, which he enjoyed.”
After being seen by a vet, Icicle was collected by his owners and is said to be “back home safe and sound”.
