Renee Zellweger has revealed she studied international law at the University of California (UCLA) while taking a break from acting.
Zellweger, 52, took a break from acting in 2010 and did not return until 2016 when she reprised her famous role in Bridget Jones’ Baby.
During an interview on NBC’s Today show, the Oscar-winning actress said the hiatus was designed to help her “grow as a person” and “learn some things not related to work”.
“I went to school and just took some time out, decided to participate in a different way,” she said.
“I snuck into UCLA and did some public policy for a little while… international law. I’m interested in politics.”
The Chicago actress added that politics was one of her “favourite things” and that she could “bore you to death” talking about it.

A job move into law may not be on the cards though, and when asked if she wanted to use her studies and pursue a legal career, Zellweger replied: “I’m not sure”.
As well as her role in Bridget Jones, the actress starred in Jerry Maguire, Chicago and Judy.
She won an Oscar for Best Actress for her performance in Judy and best supporting actress in 2004 for Cold Mountain.
