Prince Harry is to release a memoir next year, which he says will be “accurate and wholly truthful”.

The book will be published by Penguin Random House, and the Duke of Sussex will be donating the proceeds to charity.

In a statement, the prince said: “I’m writing this not as the prince I was born but as the man I have become.

“I’ve worn many hats over the years, both literally and figuratively, and my hope is that in telling my story – the highs and lows, the mistakes, the lessons learned – I can help show that no matter where we come from, we have more in common than we think.

“I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to share what I’ve learned over the course of my life so far and excited for people to read a firsthand account of my life that’s accurate and wholly truthful.”

The book has a “tentative” release date of late 2022.

It is due to be an “intimate and heartfelt memoir”, spanning the prince’s childhood, through his military service in Afghanistan and on to his new family life with wife Meghan and their children Archie and Lilibet.

Prince Harry stood down as a senior royal in 2020, and has since signed deals with the likes of Netflix with his wife.

The Duchess of Sussex recently released a book inspired by Harry’s relationship with Archie.
