A police officer has been charged with assaulting a 14-year-old child.
PC Paul Bewsey, from the Metropolitan Police’s Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command (PaDP), is due to appear at Basildon Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
He stands accused of common assault on the teenager in Brentwood, Essex.
The Met said the charge related to an “altercation” on 21 April in Hanging Hill Lane.
Bewsey, who was charged by postal requisition on 21 October, is on restricted duties.
The PaDP provides officers for the Houses of Parliament and is tasked with protecting government ministers and providing advice on threat levels.
