Police in Hampshire have launched an investigation after human remains were discovered at a cemetery in “unexpected circumstances”.
The remains were found by workers at the Petersfield Cemetery on Friday, Hampshire Constabulary said.
Forensics tents have been erected at the site, with officers sealing off a small area of the cemetery.
Police have also taped off a small mound of earth.
A force spokesman said: “Police were called at midday on Friday 21 May by workers at Petersfield Cemetery who had discovered suspected human remains in unexpected circumstances.
“Officers are making enquiries.”
Police have not yet been more specific on the circumstances of the discovery.
