A passenger has been injured after jumping out of a taxiing plane at Los Angeles International Airport.
The aircraft had just started to pull away from the gate on Friday night when the man unsuccessfully tried to get into the cockpit, then opened the service door and jumped down the emergency chute onto the concrete below.
He was left with injuries that were not life-threatening and taken into custody, authorities said.
He was later taken to hospital.
The twin-engine Embraer 175, operated by SkyWest as United Express flight 5365, was headed to Salt Lake City at the time.
It returned to its gate and was still there hours later.
No one else on board the aircraft was injured, but the FBI began an investigation into what happened.
On Thursday, at the same airport, a driver drove through a fence at a cargo facility operated by FedEx and went onto the airfield.
Police chased the car as it crossed runways.
Airport police and operations have inspected the south airfield following police activity that briefly closed the south runways. One south runway has reopened and the other will open shortly. The north runways continued operating normally.
Police said the driver was held and but no one was injured. The incident resulted in the brief closure of two runways.
