The producers of the upcoming Princess Diana film have released a new image star Kristen Stewart in the title role.
Stewart, who is perhaps best known for her work on the Twilight films, will play the people’s princess in Spencer, when the film hits screens later this year.
She is seen wearing one of Diana’s famous colourful jackets while sporting a bedazzled-ring on her left hand.
The film will focus on the events of a Christmas weekend in Sandringham in the early 1990s as she decides that her marriage to Prince Charles is over.
Filming has now moved to the UK, after shooting mostly in Germany, as the production aims to get the film out in autumn ahead of the 25th anniversary of Diana’s death.
Poldark actor Jack Farthing will play the Prince of Wales, while Timothy Spall, Sally Hawkins and Sean Harris also feature among the cast.
Stewart and Farthing follow in the footsteps of Emma Corrin and Josh O’ Connor, who play the young couple in the fourth season of the Netflix show The Crown – with Corrin bagging a Golden Globe for her performance.
Spencer is being directed by Chilean filmmaker Pablo Larrain and was written by the man behind Peaky Blinders, Steven Knight.

Jonny Greenwood from Radiohead has composed an original score for the movie.
It is not the first time that Diana has been portrayed on the big screen, with Oliver Hirschbiegel’s Diana, where Naomi Watts played the title role, being panned by critics in 2013.
