A married couple, along with their dog, has died after being hit by a motorbike while walking in Herefordshire.
The motorcyclist, a man in his 50s, was left with life-threatening injuries after the incident on the A44 in Floodgates near Kington, Herefordshire, which happened at about 10.55am on Tuesday.
A 70-year-old man and a 57-year-old woman, who had been walking along the road, received medical treatment before they were pronounced dead at the scene.
The West Midlands Ambulance Service said it sent two ambulances, a paramedic officer, a BASICS doctor and the Midlands air ambulance from Cosford to the scene.
“The pedestrians, a man and a woman, were both found in critical conditions and ambulance staff immediately began administering advanced life support,” a spokesman said.
“However, despite their best efforts it sadly became apparent nothing could be done to save either patient and they were confirmed dead at the scene.”
The biker was treated for his injuries before being airlifted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, where he is still receiving care.
The road was closed for a few hours while an investigation took place and police thanked the public for their patience.
Inspector Darren Godsall said the couple’s family was told of their deaths, adding: “Our thoughts are with them all at such a sad and difficult time.”
Police have appealed for information and urged the public to contact them if they have any dash-cam footage of this incident or of two motorcycles travelling along the A44 in, or near to, Floodgates between 10.45am and 11am.
