A man is due to appear in court charged with carrying a kitchen knife and trespassing at Buckingham Palace.

Cameron Kalani, 44, is accused of entering the Royal Mews carrying a kitchen knife and a wrap of cocaine.

Kalani, of Haywards Heath, West Sussex, is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday to face charges after being accused of trespassing on a protected site, possession of a bladed article and possession of a Class A drug.

The Royal Mews is part of the Buckingham Palace estate, and houses the Royal Family’s horses.

A Buckingham Palace spokeswoman declined to comment.

It comes after two people were arrested on suspicion of being found in or upon enclosed premises in a separate incident near Windsor Castle earlier this year.

Thames Valley Police arrested a 29-year-old woman and a 31-year-old man, both from London, after a report that two trespassers had been in the grounds of the Royal Lodge at Windsor Great Park in Berkshire on the afternoon of 25 April.

Both were released under investigation.
