A man who was caught on CCTV kicking his dog has been given a suspended sentence and banned from keeping domesticated animals for 10 years.
Terrance Anthony Tovey, from Llanelli, Carmarthenshire, is seen kicking the dog, named Dylan.
He then hangs him from a fence by his lead on Penyfan Road.
A member of the public approaches the 66-year-old to intervene and the man walks off with the dog down a footpath after a discussion.
Tovey pleaded guilty to two offences under the Animal Welfare Act at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court and was sentenced on Thursday 11 May.
He admitted causing unnecessary suffering to German Shepherd Dylan and failing to meet the dog’s needs.
Tovey was disqualified from keeping all domestic animals for 10 years and sentenced to 12 weeks’ custody, suspended for 12 months.

RSPCA inspector Keith Hogben said after sentencing that the footage was “extremely distressing”.
“This footage was extremely distressing to watch and poor Dylan must have been so frightened,” he said.
“This is no way to treat an animal or beloved pet.”
Dylan has now been placed in the care of a new owner.
