The man who was shot while he was out walking Lady Gaga’s dogs has said he has left hospital after having part of his lung removed.

Ryan Fischer was out walking three of the star’s dogs on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles in February when he was jumped by two men who stole two of the animals and shot him.

Gaga’s beloved French Bulldogs were returned a few days later after she put up a $500,000 (£360,000) reward.

Sharing an update on social media, Fischer has said he has part of his lung removed after having surgery.

He said he felt was recovering quickly, and that he hoped “life would be back to normal soon enough”.

However, Fischer added he was forced to have more surgery, saying: “It became quite clear that my lung was not healing, and the bullet wound had scarred my tissue like a burn.

“It could take months, if ever, for the hole to seal. Lunches of grilled cheese and tomato soup and art walks blurred into one until the day came to remove portions of my lung.”

Fischer admitted his recovery “had become anything but a straight line”.

He added: “Now that I’m finding my way in the outside world where triggers are real and working through trauma is WAY more than dealing with one unfortunate moment in life, I look back at my exit from the hospital and smile that I continue to approach each day the same way.”

The attack on Fischer was caught on a video doorbell, and he was heard screaming: “Oh my God! I’ve been shot!” and “I’m bleeding out from my chest!” after being shot with the semi-automatic weapon.

A woman showed up to a Los Angeles police station with the unharmed dogs Koji and Gustav a few days later.

The third dog, Miss Asia, stayed with Fischer after he was shot.

Gaga was away filming in Italy when the incident happened, but she called Fischer a “hero”.

A spokesman for the LAPD told the PA news agency that the investigation was ongoing.
