A kidnap victim who was bundled into the boot of a car has been found by police investigating a report of a smashed up vehicle.
Officers have now arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of criminal damage and kidnap.
Police were called to a house in the Clifton area of Nottingham around 10.15pm on Thursday, initially due to a report of criminal damage.
They arrived to find a broken living room window and a smashed up car parked outside the property.
But while at the scene, officers also received a report of a man being struck over the head and bundled into the boot of a car.
The kidnap victim was then located, with a black eye, cuts to the head and swelling around his mouth.
Police went to another address in Clifton and detained a 31-year-old man.

Detective Sergeant Georgina Gallagher, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “These are very serious offences and officers did well to detain a suspect within an hour of being called to the report of criminal damage.
“Thanks to their swift work, a man who had been kidnapped was safely located and is being supported by specialist officers.”
She added inquiries are ongoing, however, the force is “satisfied the persons involved are known to each other” and there is no wider threat to the local community.
