A photo that appears to show Princess Latifa is alive has been posted online and shared with Sky News.
It is the first time she has been seen in public since secret video messages were released to Sky News in February.
In the tapes she claimed she was being held “hostage” by her father, the ruler of Dubai.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum has consistently denied these claims and said she is safe and well.
The image, posted two days ago to Instagram, appears to have been taken in the Mall of the Emirates in Dubai.
Sky News has not been able to independently verify the image but understands it is thought to be legitimate.
Face masks are visible on the table, which suggests the photo has been taken in the last 18 months.
David Haigh, co-founder of the Free Latifa campaign and Detained International, said: “We confirm that there have been several potentially significant and positive developments in the campaign.
“We do not intend to comment further at this stage, a further statement will be issued at the appropriate time”.
