The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have called for everyone to have equal access to the coronavirus vaccine as they mark son Archie’s second birthday.
Harry and Meghan asked supporters to “join us in advocating for vaccine equity on Archie’s birthday” in a post on their website, archewell.com.
“We cannot think of a more resonant way to honour our son’s birthday,” they said.
Thanking the public, they wrote: “We have been deeply touched over the past two years to feel the warmth and support for our family in honour of Archie’s birthday.
“Many of you donate to charities on his behalf and mark the occasion by giving back or doing an act of service – all through the goodness of your hearts.”
The duke and duchess highlighted how, across the globe and in many developing countries, vaccine distribution has “effectively yet to start”.
“We will not be able to truly recover until everyone, everywhere, has equal access to the vaccine,” the couple said.
“We are inviting you to contribute whatever you can – if you have the means to do so – to bring vaccines to families in the world’s most vulnerable places.”
Royal Family members also wished Archie a happy second birthday on social media.
Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge tweeted from their KensingtonRoyal account: “Wishing Archie a very happy 2nd birthday today.”
Their message was accompanied by a picture of Archie when he was christened by the Archbishop of Canterbury in a private ceremony in July 2019.

The Queen has also sent her best wishes to her great-grandson via a tweet from the official Royal Family account saying: “Wishing Archie Mountbatten-Windsor a very happy 2nd birthday today.”
And Charles and his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, shared a photo, taken by fashion photographer Chris Allerton, of Harry proudly showing Archie off to the child’s grandfather at his christening.

Archie has spent most of his life living away from his royal relatives in America with parents Harry and Meghan.
The duchess revealed how the special bond between her son and husband inspired her first children’s book, The Bench.
Archie has rarely been seen during the last 12 months but did feature in a black and white video clip released earlier this year, showing him walking along the beach watched by his parents and the family pet dog, Guy.
Archie also made a surprise appearance in the Sussexes’ first podcast for Spotify in December last year – when he was heard speaking in an American accent.
To mark his first birthday, Harry and Meghan released footage of their son playing up for the camera as his mum read him children’s book, Duck! Rabbit!
Fans are hoping the couple will share another image today to mark his second birthday – although an image has not yet been released.
Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor was born on May 6 2019 at 5.26am, weighing 7lb 3oz.
