Embattled Rep. George Santos has sent thank you notes to members of Congress who voted against expelling him from the House earlier this week, according to a copy of the note obtained by POLITICO.
“I want to sincerely emphasize that I know that your vote was not done for me, but for the sanctity of this institution and the possibility of setting a very dangerous precedent,” Santos (R-N.Y.) wrote in the letter.
More than 30 House Democrats voted against a motion, led by New York Republicans, to expel the indicted Santos largely citing due process concerns. Several dozen House Republicans voted in favor of the push earlier this week.
