Actor Ewan McGregor has welcomed his fifth child into the world, and his first with partner Mary Elizabeth Winstead.

McGregor‘s daughters Clara and Esther showed off pictures of new brother Laurie on Instagram, describing him as “the greatest gift”.

The pair had not previously announced they were expecting, meaning the birth of Laurie was a surprise to many.

Laurie is the actor’s first son, after having four girls from his previous marriage with French production designer Eve Mavrakis, whom he divorced in 2018 after 22 years.

As well as Clara and Esther, McGregor is also father to Anouk, 10, and Jamyan, 20, who he adopted from Mongolia.

McGregor, 50, met Winstead, 36, in 2017 while filming the third season of Fargo, and have been together ever since.

Winstead was married to filmmaker Riley Stearns for seven years before splitting in 2018.

The pair also appeared in the film Birds Of Prey last year.

McGregor is currently filming for the new Disney+ show about his Star Wars character, Obi Wan Kenobi, and has recently appeared in the Netflix series Halston, all about the iconic fashion designer.
