Dreams of a white Christmas have come true for some in the Scottish Highlands and the Yorkshire Dales.
Shetland, Aboyne, Strathallan and parts of Yorkshire have already recorded some snow this morning.
Elsewhere, rain is due to spread northeast across the UK on Christmas Day, but it won’t reach Scotland, northern and eastern England until tonight.
Our gritters will be on standby from 3am tomorrow morning (Sat 25 Dec) on all High/Low Pennines Priority 1 routes and All Central/Coastal priority 1 routes. For more information, visit https://t.co/IeYiQkR7rK #TwitterGritterNE pic.twitter.com/4Xj9U9YUlQ
The rain will be heavy for some, with a yellow weather warning in place for parts of County Down and Armagh in Northern Ireland from this afternoon.
Between 25mm and 40mm of rain is forecast there by mid-morning on Boxing Day, with up to 60mm possible.
After the recent wet weather there, local flooding is a risk.
Scotland and northern England will have the best chance of sunshine today, but it will feel cold there, especially in the wind.

Tonight, as the rain pushes into the colder air, it will turn increasingly to snow over northern hills, but it won’t reach northern Scotland.
A yellow warning for snow covers the Pennines, the Cumbrian Fells and the Southern Uplands on Sunday. Strong winds there will bring blizzard conditions too.
There will be further snow on northern hills on Boxing Day, but it will turn light and patchy during the morning.
