A Doctor Who superfan is looking for a new home for his beloved Dalek in exchange for a donation to charity in memory of his late father.
Davie Kirkwood, 60, is moving home and will part with the life-sized replica of one of the Time Lord’s most fearsome enemies if the pledge to Parkinson’s UK is good enough.
The retired car salesman has been a Doctor Who fan since he was a young boy.
The dad-of-four told Sky News: “When I was a little boy, I always loved Doctor Who.
“I was one of these people that hid behind the couch when the Daleks came on. It was terrifying.”
The figurine – made from wood, metal, sink plungers and lights from a Morris Minor car – is based on a 1970s Dalek and was one of three made by modelmaker Andy Shaw.
Mr Kirkwood bought it around 26 years ago from a local businessman who had been given it in lieu of payment for a job in the 1990s.

It then took pride of place in the front window of his house, attracting attention from passers-by.
Mr Kirkwood said: “I’ve had around 200-300 people round at the house and the kids have grown up with it.”
Mr Kirkwood is moving from Dumfries to Stranraer, Dumfries and Galloway, to help care for his elderly mother.
His father, David Kirkwood, had Parkinson’s disease and died on Valentine’s Day in 2022 after stumbling and suffering a broken hip and heart attack.
Mr Kirkwood said: “I’ve been looking after my mum since my dad passed away.
“When I turned 60, I thought well, that’s it, [the Dalek] needs to go. I’m getting too old now and somebody younger can have it and have some fun like I have.
“My dad was in the police force for 35 years. He was quite high up in that.
“My dad was my hero. He got an MBE and he saved a girl from drowning when he was young, so I’ve sort of looked up to him. So, it’s only right the money goes towards my dad.”
