Dizzee Rascal is being investigated by Met police after he smashed a photographer’s camera outside court following a guilty verdict for assaulting his ex-fiancee.
The grime artist, 37, whose real name is Dylan Mills, has not been arrested, although Met Police said “inquiries are ongoing”.
Mills reportedly snatched the camera from a photo journalist’s hands and hurled it across the road outside Wimbledon Magistrates’ court just moments after the guilty verdict for charges of assaulting Cassandra Jones, the mother of his two children.
The court had heard how Mills, the rapper behind hits such as Bonkers, pressed his forehead against Miss Jones and pushed her to the ground during a “chaotic” argument about finances and child custody arrangements at her mother’s home in Streatham, South London, on 8th June last year.
He reportedly “barged” into the home, banged his head on the fridge three times with his son in his arms and started “screaming and shouting” at Miss Jones and her mother.
The musician was arrested at the scene and gave a prepared statement during a police interview, in which he denied the allegations and accused Ms Jones of causing injuries to his arm.
Mills is due to be sentenced for the assault at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on 8th April.
