Three men have been convicted of drugs offences after police uncovered a plot to flood the streets of Inverness with cannabis and cocaine.

Serafin Gaik, also known as Tomas, was on Monday found guilty following a trial at the High Court in Edinburgh.

The 30-year-old’s accomplices, Pawel Chmielewski, 34, and Logan MacLeod, 21, pleaded guilty after being snared by police following an intelligence-led sting.

Police Scotland said around £425,000 worth of drugs and £19,530 in cash was seized by officers as part of the operation.

Detective Inspector Robin Sim, of the specialist crime division, said: “These men were involved in a crime group who brought large amounts of cannabis and cocaine to the north of Scotland which was ultimately destined for the streets of Inverness.

“Tackling serious and organised crime and those involved in the supply and distribution of controlled drugs continues to be a priority for Police Scotland.

“We will seek every opportunity to disrupt and prosecute those that are involved.”

The trio will be sentenced on 22 May.

In making an appeal for more information, DI Sim added: “Whilst we gather intelligence on such individuals through day-to-day policing, we also rely on the information provided by members of our communities who are affected by drug dealers’ activities in their neighbourhoods.”
