Comedian Andrew Lawrence has been dropped by his agent and lost a number of gigs after making racist comments on Twitter following the Euro 2020 final.

Lawrence wrote online: “All I’m saying is, the white guys scored.”

He later added: “Equality, diversity, s*** penalties.”

Doubling down on his comments, he then wrote: “I can see that this has offended a lot of people, and I’m sorry that black guys are bad at penalties.”

His Twitter account no longer exists, but it is not clear whether Lawrence deleted it, or if the platform took action.

Sky News has contacted Twitter for comment.

Lawrence’s comments appear to be aimed at England stars Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka, who were all unlucky from the spot during Sunday’s penalty shootout against Italy.

The players became targets for racists in the hours after the final, leading to widespread condemnation from their teammates, manager Gareth Southgate, politicians, the media and the public.

After fellow comedians and members of the public spoke out, Richard Bucknall Management announced on Twitter on Monday that the comedian had been dropped from its books.

As well as losing representation, Lawrence has reportedly seen all his upcoming gigs cancelled, including at sites in Worcester, Gloucester and Cumbria.

Chesham Comedy Club in Buckinghamshire announced its intention to cancel his show, writing on Twitter: “I know you won’t particularly care, but we at Chesham Comedy club will not tolerate racism in any form so please consider your booking with us cancelled.”

Lawrence is known for his appearances on comedy shows such as Live At The Apollo and Michael Macintyre’s Comedy Roadshow, as well as writing and performing BBC Radio 4 show What To Do If You’re Not Like Everybody Else.
