A child has died following a flat fire in east London.
Firefighters were called to the blaze at a building in Stern Close, Barking, at around 3.25am on Tuesday.
“Sadly, a child was pronounced dead at the scene,” London Fire Brigade said in a statement.
A three-room flat on the second floor of the building was “destroyed” by the flames.
Two adults and two children had left the flat before crews arrived and were taken to hospital.
Another man was treated by paramedics at the scene, the brigade added.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the brigade and the Metropolitan Police.
