Big Ideas live will explore the challenges facing the economy as we come out of the pandemic.

The event begins at 9.45am and finishes at 3.30pm and is taking place in the former Templeborough steel works in Rotherham, a symbol of South Yorkshire’s industrial heritage.
• 9.45am – The future of jobs
Business presenter Ian King will open the event and host a special edition of his programme live. It will look at the world of work, post-pandemic, and ask where new jobs will be created and in what kind of industries.

• 11am – Firing up the UK
Economics and data editor Ed Conway will reveal original analysis on efforts to fire up the UK economy. Where is it happening, and why?
• 11.30am – Mark Carney live
The former governor of the Bank of England Mark Carney will be speaking to Samantha Washington about the challenges facing the UK and world economies, and the promise of COP26.
• 12.45pm – The future of green growth
The environmental theme will continue when we examine how established businesses can build back green. Samantha Washington will host a discussion on the inevitable tension between the environment and the bottom-line. What could the climate conference in Glasgow next month deliver to support businesses?
• 2pm – The future of the North
Finally, presenter Trevor Phillips will tackle the “levelling up” agenda. He’ll look at regional identity, and if pride can drive growth.
• 3pm – Closing discussion
The day will close with a discussion about what we’ve learned from the day involving all the Sky News team.
