Police are appealing for information after a 79-year-old woman was killed in a four-vehicle crash.
Gwent Police said they received a report of the collision on the A4042 in Pontypool at around 11.50am on Monday.
The collision which took place between the McDonalds and New Inn roundabouts, was attended by officers as well as the Welsh Ambulance Service and South Wales Fire and Rescue Service.
The four vehicles involved in the collision were a Peugeot, a Ford, a black Mercedes and a grey Mercedes.
The 79-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the Ford, was taken to hospital where she later died.
Police say the woman’s next of kin are receiving support from specialist officers.
Four other people were taken to hospital for treatment. Their injuries are understood to be neither life-threatening nor life-changing.

Officers have launched an investigation into the collision and are looking to speak with motorists who were travelling along the road between 11.45am and 12pm.
Anyone who may have witnessed the collision during that time, or who has dashcam or CCTV footage, is asked to get in touch with the force.
