Singer Alanis Morissette will reveal in a new documentary that she was raped at the age of 15 by multiple men, industry reports say.

Jagged, named after her famous album Jagged Little Pill, will debut at the Toronto International Film Festival this week, and reportedly contains the allegations, the Washington Post says.

She will apparently discuss the allegations, saying: “It took me years in therapy to even admit there had been any kind of victimisation on my part.

“I would always say I was consenting, and then I’d be reminded like ‘Hey, you were 15, you’re not consenting at 15’. Now I’m like, ‘Oh yeah, they’re all paedophiles. It’s all statutory rape’.”

The legal age of consent in Morrissette’s home country of Canada is 16.

The Ironic singer did not reveal any names of alleged abusers, but will say that she told “a few people”, but that ultimately her claims “kind of fell on deaf ears”.

She then adds: “You know a lot of people say ‘why did that woman wait 30 years?’ And I’m like f*** off. They don’t wait 30 years. No one was listening or their livelihood was threatened or their family was threatened.

The Washington Post also says that Morissette is upset with the documentary, and will not be going to its screening this week, but did not provide any more details.

Jagged will feature on HBO after its debut in Canada.
