Downing Street has been forced to deny music used in a promotional video of Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is a song by convicted paedophile Gary Glitter.
A one-minute video captioned “We will work day in, day out to deliver for you” was published on the official 10 Downing Street Twitter account today.
It captures Mr Sunak’s first few days as prime minister, showing his address outside Number 10, a glimpse into a Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday and part of his call with US President Joe Biden.
But social media users questioned if the background music used was from Glitter’s debut single Rock and Roll, which was first released in 1972.

Some drew comparisons between the drum patterns of the songs.
But a Downing Street spokeswoman refuted the comparison.

“I’ve been reliably informed it is stock music – it is certainly not Gary Glitter,” they said.
In 2015, Glitter was jailed for 16 years for sexually abusing three schoolgirls following a three-week-long trial.
The 78-year-old, real name Paul Gadd, was sentenced after being found guilty of one count of attempted rape, one count of unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl under 13, and four counts of indecent assault. He denied the allegations against him.
The video showing Mr Sunak’s busy first few days in office comes after he was accused of a “failure of leadership” for not attending the COP27 climate summit in Egypt.
The PM has insisted he must instead focus on the “depressing domestic challenges” ahead of the autumn budget on 17 November.
He also said he is “personally committed” to tackling climate change, despite removing COP President Alok Sharma and Climate minister Graham Stuart from his Cabinet.
