Two men have been charged with arson after a disposable barbecue caused a woodland fire as the UK was roasted by the latest heatwave.
The small blaze broke out at Bawsey Country Park in Norfolk on Sunday.
Forecasters and firefighters around the country had warned of tinderbox conditions as a result of recent extreme heat.
Police were called to the area around 11.40am after the barbecue was allegedly thrown into woodland, causing a small fire.
The blaze spread across a small area but was extinguished by members of the public.
Superintendent Nathan Clark said: “Fortunately, the fire was quickly extinguished, and I’d like to thank those members of the public for their help.
“As we’ve seen recently, the impact of extreme heat and fires can be devastating.”
