A large fire has broken out on marshland on the Wirral, with about 500 square metres set ablaze.
It is suspected that the fire has been started deliberately, according to police.
Fire engines arrived at the scene in Parkgate, near Neston, at about 6.20pm on Saturday.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said there were two areas of fire spreading around the marshland.
In an update at 9.17pm, they said they are maintaining fire breaks in two areas, which were set up to protect local properties.
Two main jets and one light portable pump are being used, and the number of fire engines on the scene was reduced from six to five.
“The fire on the marshland is being left to burn because of unstable ground,” they said.
