Police have confirmed that a body recovered from the River Thames on Tuesday is that of missing Harvey Parker.
The 20-year-old was last seen leaving a nightclub close to Charing Cross Station in central London in the early hours of 17 December.
The RNLI alerted officers to the body – which was found near Embankment – just before midday on Tuesday, and the Met’s Marine Support Unit was called in.
The body was confirmed as Mr Parker’s by Inner West London Coroner’s Court.
His death is being treated as unexplained, Scotland Yard said, and officers will compile a report for the coroner.
Mr Parker’s family have been informed of the latest development.
Detective Chief Inspector Lucy O’Connor said: “We are providing Harvey’s family with all the available information.
“We are also asking for media to please respect the family’s privacy at this challenging and difficult time.”
