Boris Johnson and his wife Carrie have revealed the name of their newborn baby daughter.

The prime minister said during a visit to a vaccination centre in Kent today that his second child with Mrs Johnson is called Romy Iris Charlotte Johnson.

Mrs Johnson also shared a picture of their daughter, who was born on 9 December, on her Instagram page.

She added Romy was chosen after her aunt Rosemary, Iris for the Greek word for rainbow, and Charlotte after Mr Johnson’s late mother “whom we miss so much”.

Following the announcement of the birth of Mr and Mrs Johnson’s daughter last week, a spokeswoman for the couple said: “The prime minister and Mrs Johnson are delighted to announce the birth of a healthy baby girl at a London hospital earlier today.

“Both mother and daughter are doing very well. The couple would like to thank the brilliant NHS maternity team for all their care and support.”

The couple also share son Wilfred Lawrie Nicholas Johnson, who was born at the end of April 2020.

He was born just weeks after the prime minister was taken to hospital and put in intensive care with COVID-19.

Mrs Johnson, 33, announced she was again pregnant with their second child in July this year.

She also revealed she had a miscarriage earlier this year and that although she felt “incredibly blessed” to be pregnant again, she added that “I’ve also felt like a bag of nerves”.

Mr and Mrs Johnson got married in a small ceremony at Westminster Cathedral in May this year.
