Manchester Airport says its Terminal 2 remains closed as police investigate reports of a suspicious package.
All flights will operate from Terminal 1 until further notice.
Earlier, passengers and staff were evacuated from Terminal 2 because of the alert.
A Manchester Airport spokesperson said: “Following a report of a suspicious package in Terminal 2, a controlled evacuation is taking place as per standard procedure.
“We are in close contact with Greater Manchester Police, who are managing the response.”
Officers blocked off all approaches to the terminal as people were evacuated, according to the Manchester Evening News.
In a later statement, a spokesperson for the airport said: “Terminal 2 remains closed whilst Greater Manchester Police continue to assess reports of a suspicious package there.
“All flights will operate from Terminal One until further notice.”
