Long-running medical drama Grey’s Anatomy will welcome back a former character to the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital when it returns for season 18.
Kate Walsh will reprise her role as gynaecological and neonatal surgeon Dr Addison Montgomery, who was last seen in the show nearly a decade ago in 2012.
She will reunite with former love rival Dr Meredith Grey, played by Ellen Pompeo, in the series created by Shonda Rhimes.

In a video shared by Shondaland, Rhimes’ production company, Walsh says: “Hi Shondaland, Kate Walsh here and guess who’s back.
“That’s right friends, Dr Addison Montgomery is coming back to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.
“It feels so good to be home again, joining Shonda, Ellen and the rest of the incredible cast on season 18 of Grey’s Anatomy.
“Just wait till you see what she’s got in store for you.

She was first introduced to viewers as the estranged wife of Patrick Dempsey’s character Derek Shepherd, and became a series regular for the second and third seasons, before making regular guests appearances until season eight.

Walsh later went on to star in her own spin-off Private Practice, which aired for six seasons between 2007 and 2013, and followed Dr Montgomery as she joined a surgery in Los Angeles.
Grey’s Anatomy has become something of a cult show both in the US and in the UK, with fans able to binge-watch the show on a number of streaming platforms.
It has featured some big name stars in the past, including Katherine Heigl and Sandra Oh.
Walsh is not just known to Grey’s Anatomy fans though, and has recently appeared in Netflix shows 13 Reasons Why as Olivia Baker, as well as Emily In Paris and The Umbrella Academy.
