Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said that the House will deliver the article of impeachment against former President Donald Trump to the Senate on Monday.
“The Senate will conduct a trial on the impeachment of Donald Trump,” Schumer said. “It will be a fair trial. But make no mistake, there will be a trial.”
Schumer did not comment on when the trial will begin, but delivering the article triggers the start of the trial, absent a consent agreement between Schumer and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.
