Dina Asher-Smith is out of the Olympic women’s 100m after she came third in her semi-final, but teammate Daryll Neita has qualified for the final.
The world 200m champion had eased through qualifying on Friday, but was left hoping her time from the semi would be enough to make it through as one of two fastest losers.
The 25-year-old clocked 11.05 seconds as she came third behind defending champion Elaine Thompson-Herah and Switzerland’s Ajila Del Ponte.
Neita qualified as one of the fastest losers with a time of 11.00 seconds after she also finished third in a separate semi-final.
Asher-Smith and Neita were hoping to become the first British female to win an individual sprint medal at the Olympics since 1960.
