Police investigating the suspected murder of a woman who was found unconscious near a train line have released a new photograph of her.

Anita Rose, 57, took her springer spaniel for a walk in Brantham, Suffolk, at about 5am on Wednesday.

The mother of six was later taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge with serious head injuries after being found by a member of the public at about 6.25am on a track off Rectory Lane.

She died on Sunday.

Officers, who are urging local residents to “remain vigilant”, have also released a map of the route she took.

They are planning to do an “anniversary check in the Rectory Lane area” on Wednesday 31 July.

On Saturday, a 45-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and later re-arrested on suspicion of murder.

On the same day, a 37-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods “in connection with the incident”, police said.

Both have been released on police bail until 25 October.

Detectives are continuing to appeal for information as they try to trace Ms Rose’s pink zip-up jacket, which they believe she was wearing immediately prior to the incident.

Officers are doing house-to-house enquiries, searching the scene where Ms Rose was found, and scouring CCTV.

“If people are concerned about going out for a walk, I would advise them to remain vigilant,” Detective Superintendent Mike Brown said.

“Tell someone where you are going, what time you expect to be back, and let them know when you are home.”

He added: “We recognise that many people will feel concerned, but I can reassure you that we are working hard to identify what has taken place and that this investigation is a priority for the Constabulary.”
