The family of a teenager who vanished two weeks ago have thanked people for their support, after a man was arrested on suspicion of death by dangerous driving.

Frantisek Morris, known as Frankie, was last seen near the Vaynol Arms, in Gwynedd, North Wales, on 2 May.

Three people have been arrested over the 18-year-old’s disappearance, with a man being held on suspicion of death by dangerous driving and a man and a woman arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.

While police continue to search for the teenager, family and friends thanked members of the local community for their help.

Colette Lhombreaud, a friend of Mr Morris who has been running a Facebook group in an effort to help the search effort, said the latest developments had been “devastating”.

“In light of recent events and the arrests that have been made, the family just need time to process everything as it is very devastating for all,” she said.

“We will post further updates when we have them. We would like to thank everyone so much for all your help and support, everyone has been so amazing. God bless Frankie Morris.”

Samantha Bebbington, Mr Morris’s sister-in-law who has also been running the Facebook group, said: “Volunteers and support during this painful time has been crucial for us and we wouldn’t be where we are at now without everyone’s help.”

Councillor Alun Roberts, from Llandegfan, where Mr Morris lives with his family, said the case had come as “an incredible shock”.

“Our thoughts have been with Frankie and his family over the last fortnight,” he told the BBC.

“We have full faith in the police and we wait now to see what happened to Frankie.”

Mr Morris had been among partygoers at an event in Waunfawr, near Snowdonia National Park, the night before he disappeared.

North Wales Police had initially been seeking to trace a cyclist spotted on CCTV around the time of Mr Morris’s disappearance, but said he had since come forward.

Chief Inspector Owain Llewelyn said: “I can confirm we have spoken to the cyclist in the CCTV images and they are no longer part of our investigation.

“I would now like to make a further appeal to the drivers of the cars in the attached images to come forward, as they may hold vital information which will assist us with our enquiries.”
