Amy Schumer has revealed she has Cushing’s Syndrome, two weeks after responding to people talking about her “puffier” face online.

The actress and comedian has been making media appearances to promote her new TV series, Life & Beth, and earlier this month, she told fans that her changing face shape was due to endometriosis.

Schumer, 42, has now shared more details on her health issues in an interview with the News Not Noise newsletter.

After tests that involved being “in MRI machines four hours at a time [and] having my veins shut down from the amount of blood drawn”, Schumer was given her latest diagnosis – which has made her feel “reborn”.

Schumer said she has a type of the syndrome “that will just work itself out.”

She added: “It has been a crazy couple weeks for me and my family.

“Aside from fears about my health, I also had to be on camera having the internet chime in.

“But thank God for that, because that’s how I realized something was wrong.”

Schumer added that the whole situation is “a good example of the fact that we never know what is going on with someone”.

Cushing’s Syndrome

Cushing’s Syndrome is caused by having too much of the hormone cortisol in your body, the NHS website states.

It can start suddenly or gradually and be serious if it’s not treated. Symptoms can include a build-up of body fat, as well as a red, puffy face and skin that bruises easily.

It mostly affects people who have been taking steroid medicines, which contain a synthetic version of cortisol.

Schumer told News Not Noise that her diagnosis was due to receiving steroid injections in high doses.

The Trainwreck actress has often spoken candidly about her health, sharing her experiences with endometriosis and Lyme disease.

In 2018, she shared social media posts on the grim reality of hyperemesis gravidarum (extreme morning sickness), as she suffered it while pregnant with her son.
