A Japan Airlines aircraft that was carrying passengers caught fire on a runway at Tokyo’s Haneda airport after a possible collision with a coast guard plane.
Video and pictures from the runway show flames coming out of the windows of an aircraft, as the fire quickly took hold and grew to an inferno.
All 379 passengers and crew on board were evacuated, according to the Reuters news agency.
Japan Airlines says the plane landed at Haneda where it then collided with what appears to be a coast guard aircraft.
The country’s coast guard says it is looking into the possibility that one of its planes crashed into the airliner.
Video on social media shows the plane in flames travelling down the runway before coming to a stop, where the flames increased dramatically.
All runways at Haneda – Japan’s busiest airport – are currently closed.
