A suspect has been arrested by police investigating the murder of a man who died after being found unconscious in a South Lanarkshire street.

Robert Yuill, 33, was found injured in Smyllum Road, Lanark, at around 9.45am on Saturday.

Emergency services attended but Mr Yuill, from the local area, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A murder inquiry was subsequently launched by Police Scotland and an online portal was set up for members of the public to submit any information.

On Friday, Police Scotland said a 44-year-old man had been arrested in connection with Mr Yuill’s death.

A force spokesperson added: “Enquiries are ongoing.”
