A primary school in Greenock was closed today after the nearby discovery of a seriously injured man who subsequently died in hospital.
Police are treating the death of the 35-year-old as “unexplained” after he was found hurt in Drumfrochar Road yesterday evening.
He died a few hours later at Glasgow’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances of the incident and a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.
“Police are treating the death as unexplained meantime.”

The incident led to the closure of St Patrick’s Primary on Monday as police cordoned off Drumfrochar Road for investigation.
In a statement issued on Inverclyde Council’s Facebook page, the local authority named other schools the pupils could attend in the meantime.
